During a traditional school year, PTSA normally sponsors programs and events such as Red-E Week, Black History Month, Teacher Mini-Grants, Senior Scholarships, and many more.  In addition to our commitment to provide these programs and advocacy, one of our top priorities this year will be focusing on the emotional and physical health of our students and staff by providing outreach and supplementing funds to cover the cost of PPE and other health and safety needs in the school.

In order for PTSA to continue with our mission, we need your help!  You can do this by simply joining the PTSA and/or making a donation.  As a 501(c)(3) all donations made to Lassiter PTSA are tax-deductible!

We have simplified our membership options to reflect the current school year as well as making membership 100% online.  Follow this link https://lassiterptsa.membershiptoolkit.com/form/m/116655

to purchase your memberships, make a donation, sponsor a teacher, and buy some LHS swag.

Now, more than ever, it’s important that we’re staying connected.  While creating your membership, make sure you sign up for the Trumpet Blast to receive email communications from the PTSA.  Also ‘like’ us on a Facebook @LassiterHSPTSA and Instagram @lassiter_ptsa to see frequent updates and announcements.

Due to the spread of COVID-19, the 2020-2021 school year will be like no other.  Your support is greatly appreciated as we work together to support our school during this unprecedented time.

Thank you,

Lassiter PTSA Executive Committee

A Message from Dr. Richie

Virtual Learning Week 4 - September 7, 2020

Dear Lassiter Families,

The District made two announcements this week.  First, the District adjusted the high school bell schedule which begins tomorrow with classes now starting at 8:20 a.m.  Second, the District set a tentative return to school date for November 5 for all high school students and October 5 for low incidence special education students.  For many of you and your children this was exciting news, but please remember there is still the option for students to remain remote.  It’s worth mentioning again that we recognize that different students have different academic needs, and that your child’s education is a personal decision for each family.  We are here to support all Lassiter families as you choose the option that works best for your child and your family’s situation.

New Bell Schedule Begins September 8

To alleviate the number of students attempting to log into CTLS at the same time, high school students will now begin first period at 8:20 a.m., our normal start time, shifting all periods 20 minutes.  A printable version of the new bell schedule is available on the District’s website https://www.cobbk12.org/_ci/post/00200616-0000-0000-0000-000000029946

Reopening Plan

All families will have the option to return to face to face instruction based on the tentative phased in plan or to remain remote.  Teachers will be live streaming each class so remote learners can access class at the same time as those who return to the building.  You can access all the information the district has released:  https://www.cobblearningeverywhere.com/  The 16 page re-opening plan addresses new health & safety guidelines as well as cleaning protocols.

This week Lassiter Administration and Department Chairs will be working to update our safety plan. Also, we will begin working on a bell schedule which will accommodate the needs of our school.  Please disregard the sample schedule provided by the district as it does not have 7 equal class periods and is not a viable bell schedule option.  Our new bell schedule will have an 8:20 a.m. start time and a 3:30 p.m. end time for all students.  Students will still follow their current schedule.  Wednesdays will still be an instructional support day for all students.

Please make sure you go to ParentVue to make your selection by the September 20, 2020 deadline.  For ParentVue issues, please email Sara.Basler@Cobbk12.org.

I hope you and your families had a safe and restful Labor Day weekend!  As always, thank you for your support.  As you navigate through deciding the learning option that is the best fit for your family, please reach out if you have any questions.
