Director of Law-Related Education for the State Bar of Georgia: Deborah Craytor, back by popular demand is returning after her previous presentation “My Teen Is Going to Adult Prison: Understand Georgia’s Deadly Sins” Don’t miss her return in this VIRTUAL presentation. Students and Parents are encouraged to attend. We recommend watching as a family. Let’s get RED-e!

Students and the Law.

On Monday, October 19th at 7:00 p.m., the Lassiter PTSA is hosting a ZOOM virtual presentation “Student Technology Use and the Law” from Deborah Craytor, Director of Law-Related Education for the State Bar of Georgia. This Red-e Week presentation is designed to educate parents AND students on student technology use and the law.

The presentation prepares students for some of the perils they face online.  Through the "Case of Jessica and Ryan," students will delve into the darker side of technology:  sexting, social media profiles, cyberbullying, and computer crime.  They will also explore the free speech implications of their online postings.

National Red Ribbon Week – the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention program.

Lassiter PTSA will take part in the campaign again this year with our “e” campaign. (the red “e” = ready). The message we want to communicate to students is “Make Good Choices” and be “Ready” for anything – ready to reach for your dreams; ready to accomplish your goals; ready to enjoy life; ready to make good use of your talents and strengths; ready to become all you can. It is our goal to convey the continued message that students should avoid drugs and alcohol not only because of the immediate negative consequences (physical, academic, legal, etc.) but also because engaging in this behavior encourages a negative life. It is important to encourage positive life choices and behavior.

During a traditional school year, PTSA normally sponsors programs and events such as Red-E Week, Black History Month, Teacher Mini-Grants, Senior Scholarships, and many more.  In addition to our commitment to provide these programs and advocacy, one of our top priorities this year will be focusing on the emotional and physical health of our students and staff by providing outreach and supplementing funds to cover the cost of PPE and other health and safety needs in the school.

In order for PTSA to continue with our mission, we need your help!  You can do this by simply joining the PTSA and/or making a donation.  As a 501(c)(3) all donations made to Lassiter PTSA are tax-deductible!

We have simplified our membership options to reflect the current school year as well as making membership 100% online.  Follow this link https://lassiterptsa.membershiptoolkit.com/form/m/116655

to purchase your memberships, make a donation, sponsor a teacher, and buy some LHS swag.

Now, more than ever, it’s important that we’re staying connected.  While creating your membership, make sure you sign up for the Trumpet Blast to receive email communications from the PTSA.  Also ‘like’ us on a Facebook @LassiterHSPTSA and Instagram @lassiter_ptsa to see frequent updates and announcements.

Due to the spread of COVID-19, the 2020-2021 school year will be like no other.  Your support is greatly appreciated as we work together to support our school during this unprecedented time.

Thank you,

Lassiter PTSA Executive Committee

A Message from NURSE DINOFF

LHS Virtual Clinic

Updated forms will be needed for the new school year, forms can be found here.

The clinic is getting ready to welcome our students that are returning to school in November.

Please review the attached PowerPoint and contact the school nurse for questions or concerns. One way that you can help to decrease the potential for exposure, is to assure that your student carries their own self-care supplies. Students can be self-sufficient by carrying such items such as feminine products, band aids, lotion, contact solution and case, water/ water bottle, extra clothing, tissues, etc. Of course, the clinic will still be available for emergency first aid, illnesses,  scheduled and PRN medications, and students with chronic conditions. If medication is needed at school, please contact the school nurse at audrey.dinoff@cobbk12.org as medication and forms drop off will be by appointment only, starting on Oct 26.

Thank you,

Audrey Dinoff, RN, BSN
