It’s the time of year to showcase your talent and creativity! This year’s Reflections Contest theme is “LOOK WITHIN” and we want to see how you express your inner self through art, music, literature, dance, photography or film! Two winners per grade will be selected for each category for a chance to be recognized at the state level. Make sure to get started right away because the deadline for entries is right around the corner!
The Reflections Program is a National PTA and Georgia PTA cultural arts competition. The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works. Young artists can get involved through their local PTA or PTSA. A student may submit an entry in any of six arts areas. Only original works of art are accepted.
The six art areas are: Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Music Composition, Dance Choreography and Film Production
All entries must be turned into the front office by OCTOBER 9, 2019 and must include a completed entry form. More information about rules and entry forms can be found at the link shown OR picked up in the front office.
*We are also looking for students to help spread the word by making posters and distributing them around the school! Service hours will be given to any student who makes a poster and sends a picture of the poster hanging up in one of the hallways. Pictures of posters can be texted to 404-272-8405.*

Parents and students, please remember to use the proper procedure when a student becomes ill, or needs medication at school. If a student is ill at school, he/she must obtain a pass and visit the clinic. The school nurse will assess the student and contact parents as needed. These procedures are in place for the students’ health and safety, as well as convenience for the parents. It also helps the nurse keep information and statistics about health trends in our school.
Prescription medication is not to be carried by students at any time. The only exceptions are diabetic, asthma, or emergency allergy medications, which need “Authorization to Carry” forms. If your child needs prescription medicine during the school day, a parent must bring the medicine, in the original pharmacy labeled container, to the clinic. Proper authorization forms must be completed by the parent. Parent volunteers and student aides may not accept or deliver any medication to students at school.
Over the counter medicine, that may be purchased without a prescription, may be carried by students, in the original container. This should be a small personal supply of medicine, and may not be shared with other students. Parents and students are responsible for knowing the proper dosage and use of these medicines. If the parent prefers, they may bring these medicines to the clinic, and the nurse will dispense the medicine, with the proper forms completed.
THE SCHOOL NURSE DOES NOT DISPENSE ANY MEDICATION TO A STUDENT, UNLESS THAT MEDICATION IS SUPPLIED BY THE PARENT FOR THAT INDIVIDUAL STUDENT.
If you have questions concerning your child’s medication, please contact the clinic at extension 075.
Donations are always needed and welcomed: 3 oz paper cups, ginger ale, saltine crackers, knee/elbow bandaids and tissues. Also, for many reasons students may need a change of clothes during the school day. If you have gently used basketball type shorts or sweatpants/track pants/yoga pants, please consider donating them to the Lassiter clinic.
