There will be an Interest Meeting for potential new and returning members of Swim and Dive on Wednesday, September 4th at 5:30pm in the Lassiter Media Center. Parents and Athletes are encouraged to attend if possible. Come learn about Swim and Dive (tryout requirements, registration info, meet schedule/expectations, etc).
*The meeting will be over before the 9th Grade Parent Night that starts at 6:30pm in the Concert Hall.
Governor’s Honors Program – Summer 2020
Sophomores and Juniors: If you love learning and excel in an academic area OR are talented in fine arts and want to spend 4 weeks next summer in a college atmosphere with other like minded students, please attend the Governor’s Honors Informational Meeting Monday, Sept 9th at 7:45 am or 3:35 pm in Room 1207. If you can’t attend the meeting, fine arts students should see Ms. Green in the Chorus Room, CTAE students should see Mr. Mitchell in Room 504/506, and those interested in an academic area should see Ms. Hinkson in room 1207.

The Lassiter Gymnastics Team will have a general information and organization meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 6:00 PM in the Lassiter Room. The organizational meeting will be immediately followed by a Booster Club Meeting. Students interested in competing and their parents are encouraged to attend to understand the requirements for the upcoming season.
Academic Letter Ceremony Invitations to students & their parents were given out in Advisement. Students who earned a 4.0 GPA in the Fall Semester and a 4.0 GPA in the Spring Semester last year will be honored at the Academic Letter Ceremony on September 11th at 6:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall.

What? The Lassiter Homecoming Parade (Theme … “Trojan TV”)
Where? The parade begins in the parking lot between Wendy’s and BP (in front of Home Depot) and ends after the turn-in in front of the Lassiter marquee. Security will be on hand to guide you. This is a change due to the construction of the new gym.

Lassiter is happy to team with David Douglas Diamonds and Jewelry to present Drawing for Diamonds. This is a drawing/writing contest that gives students the opportunity to design a necklace and tell us about the design. The winning design with be created into a piece of jewelry and presented to the Homecoming Queen on October 4. The deadline is 3:30 on Tuesday, September 17. Entry forms are located in the front office and with the art teachers.

It is time for Lassiter’s School Council elections!
The establishment of this local school council is intended to bring the community and school closer together in a spirit of cooperation to solve difficult education problems, improve academic achievement, provide support for teachers and administrators, and bring parents into the school-based decision-making process. The Lassiter School Council was established to help the Cobb County board of Education develop and nurture participation, bring parents and the community together with teachers and school administrators to create a better understanding of and mutual respect for each other's concerns, and share ideas for school improvement. Lassiter School Council shall be reflective of the school community.

One of the main goals of PTA is to advocate on behalf of students, parents and teachers. The Lassiter PTSA is looking for a volunteer (or two) to shadow our current Legislative chairperson to then chair the committee for the 2020-21 school year. You would:
Report to, and educate, our Lassiter community on issues relating to education
Attend advocacy workshops and PTA Day at the Capitol
Attend, or watch, Cobb County Board of Education meetings
Get to know our local officials to advocate on behalf of our members
Hold Voter Registration drives at school

Do you have a passion for preventing drug use in our community or teaching our teens about the proper use of today's social media and technology? Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention program and the Lassiter PTSA is looking for a volunteer (or two) to chair the committee for the 2019-20 school year. You would coordinate our Red-e week by doing the following:
Work with Lassiter’s Teen Advisory Council to plan and implement daily activities
Communicate Red-e activities with Lassiter admin and staff
Coordinate volunteer sign-ups for making cupcakes and other volunteer needs

Applerouth will be hosting free PSAT strategy sessions and practice tests to help students prepare for the upcoming October PSAT. Sessions will be offered from September 21 - October 12. To sign up, please visitapplerouth.com/preprally.

Starting pay for a Bus Driver is $17.50 per hour and a School Bus Monitor is $10.30 per hour.
